On Monday night, September 15th, or Tuesday night, September 16th crews will be working on the Southern River Crossing Bridge pouring the concrete bridge deck and running surface.
Area residents and motorists traveling by the construction site may see strange lights and activity around the Southern River Crossing Bridge and should not be alarmed as concrete pouring in the nighttime is a typical and very common construction method.
Lights will be required for the nighttime construction surrounding the machinery that places the concrete deck on the bridge itself, along with concrete truck headlights as deliveries are made to the construction site. Lights will be directed onto the bridge structure and should not impact area residences.
Though our recent chilly daytime weather may not be a good indicator, crews need to pour the concrete during the cooler evening hours as daytime temperatures remain too high to promote the proper curing of the structural concrete used in the bridge deck surface.
