Police are looking for a man who robbed a south Bend Christmas tree lot’s operator Wednesday evening, but the suspect’s description doesn’t give the public a lot to go on.
Shortly before 7:30 p.m., police responded to an armed robbery at the Tom’s Christmas Tree lot at 1020 S. Highway 97., said Sgt. Rex Catt. The 34-year-old Sunriver man on duty in a small trailer parked on the lot told officers that a lone suspect entered the trailer and implied he had a gun with a hand gesture.
The suspect demanded the business receipts from the man, who turned over an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect then fled on foot.
A police K-9 unit was called in and tracked footprints in the snow to the area of Fourth Street and Cleveland Avenue, where fresh vehicle tire tracks were found. Catt said it’s believed the suspect had a get-away car parked in the area.
The suspect is described as a white male adult in his mid-30s, about 6-feet tall, 180 pounds, with dark-colored eyes. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.
Catt said Bend police ask that anyone with information related to the case contact them at 388-5550.
