Where can you watch the greatest athletes in their sport in action for
free? At the Atta Boy 300 Sled Dog Race! Stages start daily at 9:30 at
various locations in Central Oregon.
Then, come out and meet the mushers at Camp Out Night or at one of the
many community banquets. Reservations are recommended for banquets since
seating is limited. Also, be sure to attend the exciting Opening and
Closing Ceremonies.
Here’s a schedule of race week activities:

Saturday, January 4th
Vet Check. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Teams 1 – 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Teams 21 – 40
from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Inn of the Seventh Mountain parking lot.

Opening Banquet: 6 p.m., Inn of the Seventh Mountain. Tickets available at the
Inn of the Seventh Mountain or the Bend Visitor & Convention Bureau. $15,
adults; $10, children 12 and under.

Sunday, January 5th
One-mile Ceremonial Start at Mt. Bachelor, 11 a.m.

Opening Ceremonies: Riverfront Plaza, Downtown Bend, 5 – 6:30 p.m. Everyone is
invited to come out and welcome the mushers and their teams to Central Oregon.

Monday, January 6th
Bend, 45 Miles. Mt. Bachelor/Kwohl Butte Course. Starts at Nordic Center at
9:30 a.m. and finishes about 1 p.m. at the Nordic Center. Course will loop
around Mt. Bachelor.

Banquet: 6 p.m., Sisters High School, 15200 McKenzie Highway, Sisters. Hosted by
Rotary Club of Sisters. Tickets, $10. Information/reservations: (541) 549-0251.

Tuesday, January 7th
Sisters, 47 Miles. Hoodoo/Cache Mountain Course. Starts at 9:30 a.m. at Hoodoo
Ski Bowl and finishes about 1:30 p.m., Hoodoo Ski Bowl.

Wednesday, January 8th
Sisters, 48.5 Miles. Sisters to Mt. Bachelor Course. Starts in Sisters at 9:30
a.m. at Hwy 242 and finishes about 2 p.m. at Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center.

Banquet: 6 p.m., Crook County High School, 1100 SE Lynn Blvd., Prineville.

Thursday, January 9th
Prineville, 47.5 miles. Walton Lake Course. Start at 9:30 a.m. at the Walton
Lake Sno-Park and finish about 2:00 p.m. at the Walton Lake Sno-Park.

Friday, January 10th
Breakfast: 6 a.m., American Legion Hall, 53232 Drafter Road, La Pine. Hosted by
American Legion Post 45. Information: (541) 536-1402

La Pine, 36 Miles. La Pine/Newberry Crater Course. Start at 9:30 a.m. at the
10-mile sno-park and finish about 12 p.m. at the 10-mile sno-park. Course is a
loop around Newberry Crater.

Banquet: 6 p.m., White School Park Building, Coach Road, La Pine. Hosted by the
La Pine Chamber of Commerce. Free, but reservations required. Call (541)

Saturday, January 11th
Bend, 40 miles. Mt. Bachelor/Edison Butte Course. Start at 9:30 a.m. at Mt.
Bachelor Nordic Center, finish at Mt. Bachelor Sunrise Lodge.

Camp Out Night for the Mushers. Banquet: 6 p.m., Sunrise Lodge, Mt. Bachelor.
Meet the mushers as they prepare for their campout night on the mountain. There
will be a one-mile loop for spectators to walk to view the mushers and their dog
teams as they settle in for the night. Sunrise Lodge is staying open until 8
p.m. Stay and enjoy the race program while you enjoy a pasta buffet at the
lodge.

Sunday, January 12th
Bend, 34.5 miles. Mt. Bachelor/Moon Mountain Course. Start at 9:30 a.m. at
Sunrise Lodge and finish about 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center. Loops
around Moon mountain.

FINAL AWARDS BANQUET/CLOSING CEREMONIES: 6 p.m., Inn of the Seventh Mountain,
18575 SW Century Drive, Bend. Don’t miss the final opportunity to meet the
mushers and thank them for a wonderful week in Central Oregon at the final
awards ceremony. Tickets available at the Inn of the Seventh Mountain or the
Bend Visitor & Convention Bureau. $15, adults; $10, children 12 and under.

Watching the Race
Unlike the four-legged stars of sled dog racing, we don’t have our own
coats. To stay warm and dry while watching the race, review this
checklist before traveling to the course:
-Dress in layers
-Remember warm gloves, hats and socks
-Wear waterproof boots and a waterproof, wind-proof jacket
-Bring snacks, liquids and a thermos of hot drinks to keep you warm
-Don’t forget sunscreen, lip protection, and your camera!
